Where can I camp on the beach in/near Virginia Beach?
I'm coming to Virginia Beach this weekend for 1 night, and I'm looking for a place to camp on the beach. We are traveling in a Land Cruiser, and I'd love to back that right up to the water and sleep in the back. But if that's not a possibility, I'd at least like to pop the tent up on the beach itself. Most sites I see are only "close" to the beach. I'm looking for ON the beach.

Is VIRGINIA BEACH a good vacation spot to travel 10 hours for?
My family and I are planning to go to the beach this summer. We are really excited because its the first beach vacation for us in a long time! We have a preschooler and a 15 month old and want to go in June. I was wondering what was great about VIRGINA BEACH and what activities for lil kids besides the beach :) Btw are there SEASHELLS at VB coz I always imagine my kids picking up sea shells and saving them in a clear container for a forever reminder of our vacation! Thanks so much!!

hmm? it's ok.. I guess -- I didnt see really any sea shells -- I went this past summer -- my son found trash in the water -- it could be the area we were at -- the people were odd -- i went into the water and didnt realize the tide was coming in so it got my bag wet -- there were 5 people in front of my bag and they did nothing -- then when i saw the same thing happening to someone else -- it was beach chairs, though -- they acted like i was trying to steal something -- we were at the beach in front Catch 31 -- that area right there .. there were no sea shells--and the water was trashy. Try goolge maps and it will show you what it the area looks like.

The kids can enjoy whale watching. There are also horseback riding activities that you can do while the kids watch enjoy watching you. Of course you can enjoy swimming and playing in the cool waters of Virginia Beach

Check out this web site. It is written by travellers for other travellers. There are honest reviews on hotels and all sorts of other travel related things. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ In fact it has information on everything you will need for a trip anywhere!! If you can't find the answers you want you can post a question (just like on Yahoo Answers) in the forum area of the town/city/country you are interested in. There is often "a local expert " who will reply sometimes with extremely detailed answers

it will take you longer but yes... you can take I 80 south to I68 in VA.. threw the south part of richmand. but it will take you longer... your better off trying to go the DC route and timing it that you will go threw DC between 10Am-2pm or before 5am and after 8pm...
2 :
Simple, jump off at Breezewood, take I-81 down to I-66 just below Winchester, VA go across I-66 to exit 28 and jump on 17 south. This will take you down to I-95 in Fredricksburg. VA I lived in Manasses and my ex wife live in Oakland, MD we would run through Winchester every weekend. Nice drive

About Traveling from Virginia Beach to New York
Traveling from Virginia Beach to New York...?
So, I'm planning a trip from my home in Virginia Beach, Virginia to New York City. I'm trying to figure out the most cost effective way of travel from here to there. Flying is the most expensive, so out of the question. I've narrowed it down to train, greyhound bus or driving. I think i'd like to drive seeing as our hotel as free parking, and just park the car at the hotel and use public transpiration the whole time there. Would it be cheaper to take a train or bus, when you factor in tolls and whatnot while driving?

Take the drive. There's plenty to see along the way! Personally I'd recommend going up US 13 instead of 95 etc. You will see more and enjoy the drive. I used to run between Norfolk / Little Creek and Philly 3 times a month. Sure you have to pay tolls on the Bay bridge tunnel but you can avoid the rest until you get to NY by reading the map carefully. Check the best routes through mapquest
