About Traveling to Virginia Beach from Vermont

Traveling to Virginia Beach from Vermont?
My husband and I are planning a trip to Virginia Beach with our 16 month old. We are leaving from VT and driving down. Since it is a long trip we thought we would stop for the night half way to VA. Can anyone recommend a nice family orientated place to stop for the night that has places to visit?

Rough estimate is that Philadelphia would be the 1/2 way point. The closest thing I could suggest to a family oriented place to stop is going west of Philadelphia to Amish country. The problem with that suggestion is that there isn't much to see/do after sundown. Assuming you want to maximize your driving day? Lancaster area (Amish country) is about 50-75 miles west of Philadelphia metro area, which could take you 200 miles out of your way depending on the route you take to VA Beach. 16 month old won't care or know where you stop anyway. Point being I wouldn't go out of my way on account of the 16 mo old. After several hours on the road it's likely you won't want to do anything other than relax and sleep either. I'd plan your driving route to get to VA beach the quickest way, and not go out of my way on the layover
